Tolerant Nation
Tolerant Nation provides innovative arts and cultural events for young Jews to interact with one another, connect to their Jewish identity, explore cross-cultural experiences and inspire positive Jewish creative expression.
As part of The Cool Jew Book Project, author, journalist and public speaker Lisa Alcalay Klug founded TN as a non-profit venture to promote Jewish identity and engage young Jews in vibrant arts and culture experiences celebrating Judaism, creative Jewish expression, Jewish unity and community. Building on the success and spirit of Lisa's book, Cool Jew: The Ultimate Guide for Every Member of the Tribe, TN often operates in partnership with other individual writers, as well as filmmakers, dancers, comedians and a wide variety of other artists and genres who function as positive role models for proud, authentic Jewish contributions to popular culture. TN also operates in conjunction with organizations at home and abroad to provide young Jews with large scale events that offer positive Jewish encounters, generate cross-cultural dialogue, further stimulate and inspire public conversation and awareness about Jewish identity and inspire creative expression, connection and engagement through the arts and pop culture.
Utilizing social networking, grassroots organizing and collaborating with other emerging and established artists and institutions, Tolerant Nation's programs, books, blog and media coverage have reached millions of people in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Israel. With more than 100 events and programs held worldwide over the past two years, Tolerant Nation is grounded in Jewish values and offers dynamic experiences building Jewish unity, understanding, community and celebration of the Jewish experience across religious, ethnic, cultural and geographic boundaries.
